Youth MH & Suicide Prevention for LGBTQQIA

Goal

The research project is focused on improving access to and effectiveness of responses to the needs of Two-Spirit, LGBTQQII and gender non-conforming Indigenous youth who are at risk of or engaged in suicidal actions or self-harm/injury by undertaking youth-governed research to: identify meaningful existing practices in community; and engage Indigenous youth in self-determining and transforming the language used to describe what is happening to them and what they need.

Who and what is involved?

Building on the existing relationship between Native Youth Sexual Health Network and Well Living House, this study will include:

  • A systematic review and environmental scan of effective and promising practices
  • Approaches that are strengths-based
  • Engagement of youth and broader Indigenous community
